Eat, spa, explore, repeat…A luxury hotel in Christchurch
A while ago we were lucky enough to be sent to review Christchurch Harbour Hotel in Dorset, which is a gorgeous luxury hotel and spa.
Christchurch is within easy reach of London and you can be there in under two hours from Waterloo. Christchurch Harbour and the hotel are situated a little way out of town but it takes only around ten minutes to get there by taxi.
The hotel is an 1830’s Grade II listed Georgian building which was refurbished throughout in 2017 with luxury in mind and is understandably a very popular venue for weddings, private parties and business conferences given its glorious situation on the water’s edge. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival and were shown to our room (try and book a harbour view if you can) which was simply lovely with its roll top bath in the bedroom and four poster bed to give a feeling of total luxury.
There are two fabulous restaurants to choose from: The Jetty which is set slightly apart from the hotel, right down by the water serving freshly caught seafood; and The Upper Deck within the hotel itself with a slightly less formal menu. They were both excellent.
Christchurch Harbour is beautiful and there is a lot to do in the area. You can hire kayaks from the hotel or take part in an SUP Yoga class (wobbly yoga on a paddleboard to you and me). We decided on the altogether easier option of taking a ferry across to Mudeford Sandbank which is an almost otherworldly spot with yellow sandy beaches and birds aplenty, if ‘twitching’ is your scene.
If you find that you have had enough of the gourmet food at The Jetty or The Upper Deck, then you can check out The Haven House Inn for standard pub grub, right at the end of Mudeford Quay
