A London Flat Refurbishment

A very enjoyable project for us was supervising and managing a total flat refurbishment in Central London. The client on this occasion was a very busy executive who simply didn’t have the time to be involved in the project and really needed our personal concierge services ie. somebody to step in and take over.  In this instance, things were further complicated by the fact that the interior designer who had drawn up the plans, was based in Barcelona and was only able to come over a limited amount of times, having her practice to run and small family to look after.  We became her eyes and ears and clear communication was key.

We worked as a good team and I was the go between for the designer, the builder, various other contractors and the client to help deliver the refurbishment on time.  We were there from the outset from checking on planning permission and building regulations etc right the way through to going through the snagging list and helping with the finishing touches.

The space was totally stripped out from top to bottom.  It was a split level flat over ground floor and basement with a small split level outside space.

A London Flat Refurbishment

Down to the bare bones…

The challenge was to create some space and let some light in, which Esther Rico  the interior designer, managed to achieve by beautifully translating her drawings into reality.

The client wanted the top floor to be an open plan kitchen and living room.  It was a fairly small space but the end result gave a good impression of that desired space and light.

Following the lovely staircase to the basement level, you can see how the space came alive with a gorgeous combination of fabrics, textures and colour.

We also oversaw the complete transformation of a dingy backyard into a nice area to spend time in during warmer months, and the addition of a copper wall to cover up an ugly fence.

The property is situated in Clerkenwell which is a particularly characterful area of London packed with bars, a huge variety of restaurants and plenty of interesting hidden corners.

It was a very satisfying project demonstrating how a personal concierge was able to manage the entire refurbishment from start to finish, to save the client much hassle so that the process had no impact on his productivity at work, giving him a beautiful new home in which to enjoy his elusive free time.
